In my town, I've already earned the reputation of 'Crazy Bird Lady'. One of my husband's friends brought her to me because they can't keep her anymore. She's beautiful and makes the cutest little noises. She's a parakeet, blue and gray. I've named her Massen. I have fallen in love with her and plan to keep her.

The OSAT is a test I have to take to move a step closer to my degree. It lasts 4 hours and I will be taking it this weekend. A tad nervous... from what I hear it's the hardest one. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers!!! I will pass with flying colors, I just know it!!!

Love to all,

Bonnie

My Fids
My Fids I suppose I should write about my birds since my Blog is called "Parront Life".First there's Chicken. He's a Moluccan Cockatoo that I've had the pleasure of taking care of since April of 2007. His hatchdate is June 19, 1999 making him 9 years old. He's the feathered love of my life!He was not treated very well by his former owners and was passed around a lot. When I got him, he had issues with screaming and biting. I was just about to send him on down the line when I met some wonderful people that helped me work him through his issues.

These days, Chicken is a happy, healthy bird. He still screams and bites, all Cockatoos do, but I have learned to read his body language and he's learned that Mom won't always put up with his attitude! We have lots of fun together. He likes to go places with me. I put him on his teather and we go to the bank, the park and out door community activities like Flea Markets.

My second bird is Daisy. She is a Blue and Gold Macaw. Her estimated age is 12 years. I've had Daisy since March of 2008. The story of how I got Daisy is an interesting one. I have a friend who lives 6 hours from me who runs a bird rescue. We had been looking for my perfect African Grey parrot, when my friend called me one day saying she had found the perfect African Grey for me. I was very excited and drove the 6 hours to meet my new bird.

When I got to my friend's house, I nervous. She's very good at matching people with birds. When I met the African Grey, Pookie, she was nervous as well. Thinking she would warm up to me, I spent an hour or so with her. Finally, I gave up. I was making Pookie so nervous she was sitting on my lap pulling her feathers out! I was bummed, but it was okay. I was enjoying the evening with my friend and all the foster birds in her rescue. That's when I met Daisy. Daisy seemed to love me immediately. My friend said so, almost confirming my suspicions. I spent some time that night getting to know her. She was such a sweet bird, so I called my husband Matt asking if I could have her instead. He of course said, "okay babe, whatever you want"(something all good husbands say from time to time). I was so excited!

The next day, I woke up and went to see Daisy. I kept my fingers crossed that she hadn't changed her mind about me over night. I was thrilled when she reacted to me the same way she had the day before. We loaded her up and she's been with me every since!

Daisy is a talker! She has roughly a ten word vocabulary. She likes to dance as well. She'll bob her head up and down to the music. When I sing, she will usually sing along. She holds a very special place in my heart.

School's Started...

I'm busy, busy, busy!

I go to school 5 days a week this semester.
